In the mid-late 90's, when I started using the internet (at around 17-18 years old), there was something much more adventurous and enlightening about connecting with people (on MSN Messenger and ICQ!). It seemed amazing and inspiring and fuelled a lot of curiosity. Somehow, 20+ years later, it's become numbing and mundane. Kids need to work a lot harder to find the adventurous parts of the digital world, and not just get trapped in what is essentially short form entertainment (i.e. Tik Tok, Snapchat et. al.)
