A Startup Foundations Builder
After originally studying journalism—a passion that refuses to die (my articles pop up in publications like Marker and The Startup when I can pry myself away from my day job long enough to string coherent sentences together)—I've zigzagged through the tech landscape like someone with questionable GPS skills but incredible luck.
For two-and-a-half decades my career path took me across management and leadership roles in small business, IT services, a global tech giant, and a Seattle-based SaaS startup that morphed into a billion-dollar unicorn, all while I was busy trying not to break anything important.
Turns out, that messy path gave me a unique perspective on management, leadership, company culture and sales & marketing strategies that clients find useful.
These days? I run a consulting firm that works with startups and high-growth businesses who are juggling the same flaming-chainsaws-while-riding-a-unicycle situations I've spent years solving. Not that I have all the answers. (Do I seem like I have all the answers? That would be terrifying.) I've got a solid grip on some pretty useful ones, though—and for everything else, I'm suspiciously good at helping smart people figure stuff out while making it look like it was their idea all along.
Fair warning if you follow me: I publish in completely unpredictable fits and spurts—usually when I'm bored, on holiday, or desperately trying to delay something that's actually important, like filing my tax return. (Nothing inspires creativity quite like an approaching deadline for something else entirely.)
